Big Focus on Small Business is a confidential forum for small business owners, or major decision makers of a small business where they can learn and share ideas in a safe and non-threatening environment. This FREE program is exclusive to Chamber members. The program is facilitated by SCORE (former CEOs, CFOs, Directors of Sales/Marketing and Management Executives).
Our topic this month is Strategy Development and Business Planning, presented by Glenn Ebersole, P.E. Market Development Manager, High Concrete Group, LLC, Denver, PA and featured columnist for Business Weekly.
Running a small business can be hectic and it’s easy to get mired into the day-to-day operations required to keep things running smoothly and profitably. However, by taking the time to invest in a strategic planning process, the small business owner can discover options for his company to respond to the changes and opportunities in the marketplace. The biggest disservice a small business owner can do for an organization is to be unprepared or surprised by unfolding events.
Even if you simply think things through in your mind and then briefly share your strategic ideas or decisions with your employees, you will be ahead of the curve and helping people to understand how they can connect with your strategy.
This facilitated discussion will examine the process of strategic and tactical planning, including developing a planning process, setting company vision and goals, assessing current situation (SWOT Analysis), agreeing on priorities, and developing an implementation plan (quarterly and yearly).
