Reminder: No Business at Breakfast in July
There will be no Business at Breakfast in July. Our next Business at Breakfast will be held from 7:44-9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Green Valley Country Club. Steve Fritz of VF Outlet Center will be the guest speaker.

Join us for a round of golf on Aug. 7
Sign up today for The Chamber Classic and A Swing Above, our 2012 Golf Tournaments on Tuesday, August 7. The Chamber Classic will be held from 8 a.m.-noon, with lunch to follow, at Galen Hall Golf Course, and the new A Swing Above will be held from noon-6 p.m., with dinner to follow, at LedgeRock Golf Club. Kudos to these outstanding newsmakers

Congratulations to Joseph Lehman of Douglassville, who was the Berks County winner in the Commuter Services of Pennsylvania's recent Earth Day contest. He logged 160 miles by carpooling to his job at Carpenter Technologies.

Recently, 18 Berks•Fire•Water Restorations, Inc. employees received Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) Odor Control Technician (OCT) Certifications. They are: Missy Andrews, Eric Angstadt, Jame Burrus, Robert Detweiler, Jonathan Fetzer, Jennifer Frees, Wendy Gregro, Barry Hall, Eric Keller, Randy Kline, Shawn Mendenhall, Deb Moyer, Geoff Moyer, Jessica Prutzman, Brad Roberts, Eric Rockhold, Jason Stone, and Connie Wansley. In addition, 15 employees earned the IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT) certification. Federal Transportation Bill Passed
After months of negotiations and jockeying for political position, Congress gave final approval to massive job-creating U.S. transportation bill. Click here for more details about the bill. The deal basically keeps transportation funding at current levels. The package also prevents federal student loan interest rates from doubling and maintains federal flood insurance.

Unemployment Compensation Reform Law (bold) Unemployment Compensation Reform Law was recently signed by Governor.  This law will save employers money and restore system to solvency. Click here to learn more about the law and find out how your elected official voted. If your elected officials supported the new UC reform law, we encourage you send a message or make a call of thanks for this important vote.  The measure was one of Greater Reading Chamber members' top legislative priorities.
